Mrs. Undercover
The year 2023 will see a slew of big-budget Bollywood movies released in theatres. One of them is Mrs. Undercover, which stars Radhika Apte in a spy comedy.
It begins with Durga (Radhika Apte) - a middle-class housewife in Kolkata - enroling herself in a women's empowerment programme. She is soon called to help solve a serial killer's case.
In the process, she also enrolls in a marriage counseling session that teaches her a lesson about how she should treat her husband.
Despite the good intentions, it ends up being a poorly executed film. The screenplay is jumbled up, and its characters feel one-dimensional.
Shaakuntalam
Adapted from Kalidasa's epic Abhignana Shakuntalam, director Gunasekhar’s period drama revolves around Shakuntala (Samantha Ruth Prabhu) and King Dushyanta’s love story. It also features Dev Mohan, Gautami, and Sachin Khedekar in important roles.
Despite honest efforts from Gunasekhar, Shakuntalam fails to impress. The story is paced at a slow pace and does not have the required emotional heft to hold our attention.
The unknown cast for the main part, the missing Samantha, and terrible war sequences contribute to this. Moreover, the shoddy VFX work and exaggerated poetic dialogues make it all the more disappointing.
Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan
Salman Khan is back again with a bang and this time around, it’s all about romance, drama, emotion and action. Directed by Farhad Samji, Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan will release on the occasion of Eid and the film is expected to do well at the box office.
